Aepli and Joelson Tie for

2024 Wyoming State Champion

Carter Worcester Wins Tiebreak in Qualifier to Compete in the 2025 Championship Tournament

Will Aepli and Dan Joelson tied for first place this year in the Wyoming State Chess Championship. This is Dan Joelson’s 21st title as Wyoming State Chess Champion and Will Aelpi’s 4th title. Both players finished 4-1 in the five game round-robin championship tournament. Will faced a 2nd round loss to Casey Borcher and Dan faced a 5th round loss to Will.

1st Place - Will Aepli and Dan Joelson (4 pts)

3rd Place - Casey Borcher (3.5 pts)

4th Place - Tim Schoessler (2 pts)

5th Place - Ethan Hoopes (1 pt)

6th Place - Bruce Johnson (1/2 pt)

In the Qualifier Division, there was a 3-way tie for first with Elizabeth Scott, Obadiah Marchbank and Carter Worcester each earning 4 points. Carter Worcester won the tiebreak and thus will advance to the Championship Division for the 2025 State Tournament. Congrats to our Qualifier winners!
